The short communications (no more than 2500 words excluding the title page, abstract, and references) should be formatted in the same manner as full-length manuscripts.
The order of presentation for original contributions and short communications is the following:
Title page should be on a separate page including a title, author(s)’ name(s) and their affiliation, the full address of corresponding authors (E-mail), postal code.
Abstract (maximum of 300 words) should be structured and contain such sub-sections as Background; Aim; Materials and Methods; Results; Conclusion; Keywords (up to six words). As a rule, the use of abbreviations and acronyms in the abstract should be limited. Review article abstract (250 words) should be provided in the unstructured paragraph format.
In general, the terms in the text of the paper should not be abbreviated unless they are conventional or used repeatedly and the abbreviation is helpful to the reader. The abbreviation should be given in brackets when the corresponding term is mentioned first time in the text.
Introduction should provide the adequate background information while avoiding a detailed literature review.
Materials and Methods. The details of the experimental procedures necessary for the understanding of the article should be provided except for the conventional techniques where only references may be given. Chemical substances and drugs should be referred to by the generic name only. Trade names should not be used. If proprietary drugs have been used in the study, refer to these by their generic name, mentioning the proprietary name and the name and location of the manufacturer in parentheses. The manufacturer’s name and country should be indicated for all chemicals and equipment.
All human and animal studies must have been approved by the relevant ethics committees. Papers lacking such information will not be considered.
The origin of cell lines used in the study should be clearly indicated.
The animal studies should include number of animals, their species, strain, line, ages, sex, weight and breeding, method of euthanasia.
The statistical methods used should be outlined. Provide the chosen level of significance and the name of the statistical package used (version, manufacturer, state).
Results. Only the major findings, along with numerical data, should be provided. Take care that the text does not repeat the data presented in tables and/or figures.
Discussion. The findings and their implications should be discussed in the broadest context possible. The limitations of the present work should be highlighted. Future research directions may also be mentioned.
Acknowledgements (optional) include identification of a source of a financial support, if such was provided.
References. The original contributions should have no more than 50 references (for short communications – 20, for reviews – 70). All references should be given in an order of citing. References should be indicated by Arabic numerals in the square brackets.
The references should be given according to the Vancouver style (2022).
Each reference should list the authors' last names, followed by all initials (without spaces or punctuation between the initials), a title of paper referred to, an abbreviated title of periodicals (in italics), year, volume number, and first and last page numbers. If there are more than three authors in a cited paper, only first three authors’ names should be provided, and a list should be continued by et al. Only the first word of the article title and words that normally begin with a capital letter are capitalized. Responsibility for the accuracy of bibliographic references rests entirely with the author. Consult Index Medicus or PubMed for standard journal abbreviations. This journal should be cited as Exp Oncol. "In press" citations should be limited and must include the name of the journal that has accepted the paper. doi for each reference should be indicated.
