INFLUENCE OF THE 131I ACTIVITY ON THE PROBABILITY OF REMNANTS ABLATION IN THYROID CANCER PATIENTS
The aim of the study was to determine function predicting thyroid remnants ablation after the first radioiodine treatment of thyroid cancer patients. 76 patients were treated by 131I after thyroidectomy. Activities administered amounted from 1100 to 5200 MBq. Only thyroid remnants were visualized during the treatment. In 51 patients remnants were ablated after the 1-st course of 131I treatment, in 25 patients remnants were not ablated. 131I kinetics have been followed daily during first 4 days after the beginning of the treatment on the basis of mathematical analysis of scintigraphy. Regression analysis of kinetic parameters was carried out. It was shown that the choice of activity value is decisive in the outcome of radioiodine treatment. The greater volume of thyroid remnants is the greater value of activity administered is necessary for successful thyroid remnants ablation. Evaluated logistic function could be considered as the probability value of thyroid remnants ablation after the first course of radioiodine treatment in patients without metastatic lesions.
