HIGH INCIDENCE OF NEUTROPENIA CAUSED BY NK OR NK LIKE T-CELL PROLIFERATIVE DISORDERS AMONG ATOMIC BOMB SURVIVORS
50 of 52 patients with neutropenia (less than 1.5 x 10 3/ml) were atomic bomb survivors. 30 patients had NK cell or NK like T cell proliferative disorders. Three cases were diagnosed as chronic NK cell leukemia by immunophenotypic analysis using fluorescence activated cell sorter. Similar hematological disorders are suggested to be highly probable also in Chernobyl victims.
