TEFF AND THYROID REMNANTS/BLOOD ACTIVITY RATIO UPON 131I THERAPY OF PATIENTS WITH DIFFERENTIATED THYROID CANCER

Summary. The aim of the study was to determine 131I activity interval where Teff and thyroid remnants/blood activity ratio (d) have maximum values during the treatment of patients with differentiated thyroid cancer according to scintigraphy data. 70 adult patients with differentiated thyroid cancer were treated by radioiodine after thyroidectomy. Only thyroid remnants were visualized during 131I treatment. Values of 131I activities administered ranged from 1,100 to 4,700 MBq. Kinetic parameters have been followed during first 4 days of the treatment. Since Teff and d attain maximum value within the activity interval 2,700–3,100 MBq the latter could be optimal for increasing the absorbed dose delivered to thyroid remnants in patients without metastatic lesions.
