DIFFERENT PRODUCTION OF TGFb1 BY CISPLATIN-SENSITIVE AND RESISTANT L1210 CELLS TREATED WITH ANTICANCER DRUGS AND LECTINS
Cisplatin, methotrexate, vincristin, and cytotoxic lectins (Viscum album agglutinin 1 and Ricinus communis agglutinin) were shown to induce TGFb1 production in L1210 murine leukemia cells. Different patterns of TGFb1 production were observed under the effect of the above mentioned cytotoxic agents in cisplatin-sensitive and resistant L1210 cells. As TGFb1 inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in cisplatin-sensitive L1210 cells, it was suggested that this cytokine can mediate effects of cytotoxic agents.
